so.....tight....can't.....breathe......

(though we love the sweater)

round one: richmond

One of my friends at school, Bob Pluncket, sent me an email after Amelia was born:

Wow, Jamie, great news! Congratulations to you and Kristie! OK, so it's a girl. The bigger question: is she a Tar Heel or a Tribeswoman?

Looks like Kristie's alma mater beat them both to the punch - she's a Spider! This arrived the other day in the mail:

Air Baby!

Ultimately, there was just a mini-meltdown, but I was expecting the worst! This was after a week in NYC - Kristie went back to work. I basically spent the time shopping.

Hello, Solid Food!

I'll be frank. I have real doubts about this.

If you're going to make me do this, I'm going to to be in control.

Remember: I'm in control!

Ooh la la. I didn't get much in my mouth, but what little I did was delightful!

I think solid food might just be the future!

Ready for Summer!

(If only she was as calm wearing them as she appears in this picture!)

Baby Convention

Is anything cuter than a couch full of babies?

Amelia Turns Her Head!

It's a few weeks old (I'm still getting the hang of the video editing software), but up-to-date in that she still struggles with the head turns....

Abby's Visit!

Abby came to visit last week, which was fantastic - it was the first chance any of Kristie's siblings had to meet the new addition....

Abby first met the baby when we were out on a long walk (when Kristie picked her up at the airport, Amelia had a meltdown, which only baby bjorn could cure!)

Later, they relaxed in the apartment (baby passed out)

The girls together - Amelia is in love!

Just like my dad...

I miss Brooklyn.

Good Morning!

First Valentine's Flowers!

From her grandparents!

Conflicted about Valentine's Day

Just like the rest of us. Sometimes she hates it...

And sometimes she loves it...

Baby in the WSJ

They included a picture of Amelia in the latest Wall Street Journal story I've been involved with (a series profiles where I try not to come off like a total idiot - with marginal success). Link :

Amelia's Name Revealed!

This was my first shot at uploading a video (or working in iMovie), so there's no soundtrack or credits or anything like that - but the moment is so sweet, you don't need it!

Finally, Kristie and I end the torture we've been subjecting everyone to as we tried to decide on a name. (We should really be ashamed!) But the wait was worth it.

First postage for the babes...

Amelia got her first mail on Friday (she's gotten a lot of amazing gifts, but this was the first package that came through with her name on the address label!). A beautiful stroller blanket from her Aunt Andrea.

Flowers for the lady!

Beautiful flowers for Amelia, delivered to the house in the last couple of days...

A trio of super-cute vases from Hubbel, Tina and family!

A gorgeous boquet of pink roses from Meg and Jim Brantley!

First visitor at home!

Jane Hood came by for a visit (well, two visits)! It's love at first sight!

Welcome Amelia!

After 17 hours of labor (and then, a c-section), we welcomed Amelia into the world at 3.45 am. on Thursday, January 10th, 2008. Some pictures from her first couple of days!

After a long wait, Stephanie and the grandparents get their first view of Amelia when they clean her up (at this point, she's about three minutes old).

Jamie holds the new little person just before they leave the hospital, swaddled in the pink blanket Grandma Wallis knitted for the occasion

Kristie with her daughter, dressed to the nines for her departure from Durham Regional

Amelia modeling the custom onesie Stephanie made for her

In her Moses basket, sleeping soundly

With her first hospital visitors, Uncle Bruce and Aunt Lorraine

Ready for her close-up, not particularly pleased about it.

Second visitors to the hospital with Sumie and Brian!

Baby was a little jaundiced, so she got to sleep on a blue light. Tron baby!

Nice. Now there's a good looking family.

Snuggled up with loving Grandpa Magnotta

We kept everybody in ridiculous suspense, until we settled on a name! (shameful)!

Decked out in hospital freebies (you know we took all that home!)

Relaxing with her ridiculously photogenic Aunt Stephanie

Cradled by proud Grandad Wallis

The girls!

Sleeping soundly in the arms of radiant Grandmother Wallis

Hanging out with ecstatic Grandma Magnotta

Just a few minutes old, swaddled up in hospital blankets and a sweet little cap

Dad and a little peanut
